As part of the competition programme initiated by the Electricity Regulator i.e. the opening of each of the existing supply areas to competition from other suppliers, there was a requirement placed upon the suppliers by the regulator to demonstrate that they were capable of managing the open market in an orderly and robust manner.
To ensure that this happened the regulator instructed the suppliers to subject themselves to a Self Assessment and Certification exercise. This was based upon a large compliance document, the Self Assessment and Certification Return (SACR).
Members of the Objective Internet Team managed the self-assessment process including the production of the returns.
